Hundreds of homeowners facing foreclosure and housing rights activists with the Home Defenders League from communities across the country have been rallying outside of the United States Department of Justice to demand Attorney General Holder hold the Wall Street Banks that ravaged America’s economy accountable.  

They arrived on Monday, May 20th with tents and signs declaring that "The People are too big to Fail!"  

On Monday, dozens of homeowners and community leaders were arrested outside the Department of Justice in protest of Attorney General Eric Holder's lack of will to hold the big banks' accountable for their abusive practices that led to the economic crash and continues to damage millions of homeowners and our economy today.

The report written by Alliance for Just Society and released with the Home Defender's League and The New Bottom Line details how the foreclosure crisis is still devastating our communities and our economy and shows that communities of color are particularly hard hit by the crisis.

This week the New York Times wrote an editorial supporting Mel Watt, Obama’s new nominee to direct the Federal Housing Finance Agency.  

The national press is abuzz this week with news of Obama’s nomination of Mel Watt, a Democratic Representative from North Carolina, to replace acting Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Ed DeMarco.
